Community Turf Field & Track Project: The Proposal for Riverview

·3 min read·Friends of the Royals

Friends of the Royals has put forward a detailed proposal for a community turf field, an event-level running track, multi-sport courts, and a fieldhouse at Riverview High School. It is the most ambitious project we have taken on — and the case for Riverview is clear.

Why Riverview needs it

Riverview is one of the few growing communities in the region without a dedicated outdoor running track. Our athletes train on grass fields that wash out with the weather, sit unused for much of the year, and cannot keep up with rising demand. A high-performance turf field changes that — thousands of usage hours a year, minimal rain closures, and an event-level track that finally gives local athletes a home.

Backed by a 2024 feasibility study

The Town of Riverview's 2024 feasibility study found Riverview High School to be the best site for the project: the lowest cost, construction-ready, and centrally located. Of 29 grass fields across the region, only four are football-capable — three of them in Riverview — and the Moncton area is the second fastest-growing community in Atlantic Canada.

Backed by the community

A turf field at Riverview High School would allow us to bring our student-athletes back to their home school, strengthening connection and pride in representing our community.
