The Vision

Community infrastructure, built to last.

A turf field is not simply a sports amenity — it is community infrastructure that supports public health, economic development, youth retention, and quality of life. The plan brings a multi-purpose turf field, an event-level running track, multi-sport courts, and a fieldhouse together on one site at Riverview High School.

Why this project is needed

The case for Riverview is clear.

01

No running track in Riverview

Riverview is one of the few growing communities in the region without a dedicated outdoor running track — a gap in essential recreation infrastructure.

02

Limited field availability

A high-performance turf facility supports far more annual use than grass, letting local organizations meet today's demand and plan for growth.

03

Weather-related cancellations

Superior drainage and all-weather performance dramatically reduce rainouts, keeping the season dependable for players, coaches, and families.

04

Scheduling conflicts

More available hours mean more equitable access across user groups, and room to expand programming throughout the year.

05

Growing participation

Demand for recreation is rising. A modern field and track is a proactive commitment to current and future community needs.

06

Larger events

An event-level field and track position Riverview as a destination for regional and provincial competitions — and the visitors they bring.

Feasibility study · 2024

The data says Riverview can — and should — support a turf field.

  • Commissioned by the Town of Riverview as a 2024 feasibility study
  • 29 grass fields region-wide — only 4 are football-capable, 3 of them in Riverview
  • Riverview High School ranked the best site: lowest cost, construction-ready, centrally located
  • Moncton CMA is the 2nd fastest-growing community in Atlantic Canada

Turf vs. natural grass

More play. Less cost. Every season.

Over a ten-year horizon, a synthetic turf field outperforms natural grass on availability, reliability, and cost — by a wide margin.
