Jack's story

A goalie who's always had his team's back.

Jack is in Grade 5 at Frank L. Bowser School. He's happiest outside or with a ball nearby: soccer, basketball, and hockey, where he plays goal. When he's not playing, there's a good chance he's beating someone at a video game.

In June, Jack was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare cancer. His treatment includes chemotherapy, surgery and radiation, with very little time to rest in between, and regular trips to the IWK in Halifax.

That kind of treatment asks a lot of a family. This raffle is one way our whole community can carry some of that weight with them.

Jack has always had his team's back. Now it's our turn.

How this came together

It started in a barber's chair.

When Colton at Faded Views Barbershop started planning a fundraiser and raffle for Jack, Riverview answered the way Riverview does. Donations started piling up: barbecues, getaways, services, gift certificates, until the prize table was worth $13,933.

Friends of the Royals joined to turn that generosity into a licensed raffle: tickets online, a live draw at Holy Whale Beer Hall, and a cheque presented to Jack's family at the end of it.

What you could win

Questions

Where does the money go?

Net proceeds support Jack Turpin’s medical needs, home care, and related family expenses arising from his cancer treatment. Net proceeds mean gross ticket revenue less approved raffle expenses and any prize costs. The prizes were all donated, so as much as possible goes to the family. We'll present the cheque to Jack's family at the live draw.

Who can enter?

Anyone, of any age, who lives in New Brunswick or is in the province when they buy. Our licence only allows sales within New Brunswick. Jack, his parents and his siblings can't enter; everyone else is welcome.

How many tickets will be sold? What are my odds?

There's no preset limit, so fixed odds can't be given in advance. Your odds depend on how many tickets are sold and how many remain at each draw. More tickets give you more chances, and one person can win more than one prize with different tickets.

How does the draw work?

Before the draw, we print one identical paper entry for every paid ticket and put them all in a draw container, checked against our sales records. For each prize, we announce the prize, mix the entries, and a representative draws one without looking, with an independent witness present. Each ticket can win only one prize, and a drawn entry is removed for the rest of the draw.

Do I need to be at the draw?

No. Winners don't have to attend. Everyone is welcome at Holy Whale Beer Hall to cheer, though: doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the draw starts at 2:30 p.m..

How will I know if I've won?

We email winners on draw day, at the address on the winning ticket, so check your inbox and spam folder. To claim your prize, contact Info@friendsoftheroyals.com by Sunday, November 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Atlantic, and we'll arrange collection or delivery. You don't need your printed ticket; we check your number and name against our records.

I didn't get my tickets by email.

Check your spam or promotions folder first. Still nothing? Email Info@friendsoftheroyals.com with the name you bought under and we'll resend them. Your tickets are safely recorded either way.

Can I print my tickets?

Yes, every ticket comes as a printable PDF. Printing or copying a ticket doesn't create another entry. Each number goes in the draw once.

Can I swap a prize for cash?

No cash alternative is offered. Prize values are the values supplied by the donors. Service credits cover the stated amount toward the donor's service; anything beyond that is the winner's responsibility. There are no alcohol or cannabis prizes.
